“I walk and feel refreshed”

Sarah loves the way it feels to walk alone or with her daughter. Having the choice of quality time for herself, and with others, brings her different kinds of joy.

Walking

If you have a working day that’s quite intense, walking home just gives you time to clear your thoughts and make sense of everything. I feel like it grounds me, and I come away feeling refreshed. Sometimes a good speed walk to work can feel energising, and it’s definitely good exercise!

I listen to audiobooks and podcasts on my way to work, so I really enjoy the walk. It’s quite rhythmic, putting one foot in front of the other. There’s something about the simplicity of it, you can take it in your stride and it’s free.

Walking my daughter to school is time well-spent together. We talk about friendships, and things that are on her mind. And we always bump into other families, so it’s a social experience too – we feel part of the community.

It’s nice because you can almost time yourself on the school run with who you bump into on the walk in. It’s great to see other families, it’s like a social train of people all following each other!
